Frequently asked questions

Our FAQs cover everything you need to know about working with Studio ab, from our design process to project timelines and pricing.

If you don’t find what you're looking for, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help make your design journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

I've never hired a designer before. How does the process with Studio ab. begin?

We start with a discovery call or an in-home consultation. I take the time to understand your space, your needs, and your vision before outlining a path forward.

Do I need to know my style or what I want before we begin?

Not at all. Many clients come to me unsure of what they like. Part of my role is to help you discover what feels right for you. If you do have a sense of what you love, that can be helpful, but it's certainly not essential.

Can you work with furniture, art, or objects I already own?

Absolutely. I believe these pieces often carry meaning and should be part of the story of your space. I love incorporating them into the design in a way that feels fresh and intentional. I'll also guide you on what pieces will work well, what may not suit the space, and where they can be used to best effect.

When should I engage you and why does timing matter?

The earlier, the better. For new builds, the ideal time to engage Studio ab. is when you're beginning to work with an architect or even before. I can help you find the right fit, and by coming on board early, I can review your layout to ensure the best use of space. This often influences things like window placement, so it's important to do before town planning is submitted.

For renovations, it's best to engage me before bringing in a builder. Your builder will need to quote based on our design. Engaging them too early often leads to confusion, rework, and extra costs.

For furniture, soft furnishings, and decoration, timing also matters. Many items are made to order and have long lead times. Early planning ensures everything arrives and fits together seamlessly.

How much involvement will I need?

That's completely up to you. Some clients like to be closely involved, while others prefer to hand over the reins. We'll find a rhythm that works for you.

How do costs and pricing work?

Every project is different, so pricing is tailored specifically to your needs. We begin with a discovery call, followed by a consultation. This gives me a clear understanding of your space, your goals, and what you actually need, so I can quote accurately.

Once your quote is ready, we meet either in person or over Zoom to go through it together. This lets us talk through what's included in your scope of works, why it's been structured that way, and how we can refine it to suit your project needs & budget.

What is the typical timeline for a project?

Timelines vary depending on the scope and level of detail. Once we've discussed your brief, I'll provide a realistic timeframe so you know what to expect.

Do you handle sourcing, delivery, and installation?

Yes. I manage everything from selecting pieces to coordinating logistics and installation for custom joinery, so the process is seamless for you.

Do you work on both homes and commercial spaces?

Yes. I work across residential and commercial interiors and tailor each project to suit how the space is used, who it's for, and what it needs to achieve.

Can I hire you just for styling or a small part of the project?

Yes. I offer flexible services, whether you're looking for help with styling, furniture curation, or a complete design overhaul.

What is procurement and is it optional if I'm doing interior decoration?

Procurement is the stage where I place and manage all orders on your behalf, once the design is approved. It removes the stress of handling suppliers, tracking deliveries, and dealing with logistics.

Through procurement, you gain access to trade-only suppliers and exclusive pieces. Every item is selected with care, ensuring the right size, scale, material, and finish to avoid costly mistakes that can be easily overlooked.

If anything arrives damaged or not as expected, I handle the resolution with the supplier and ensure you receive what was intended.

What is your style, and do you work across different aesthetics?

My strength lies in adapting to a range of styles while staying true to what feels authentic for each client and space. I approach every project with a clear design intent, ensuring the result is cohesive, balanced, and executed with care. While I have a refined point of view, my work is never one-note. A selection of past projects is available upon request and reflects the diversity of spaces I've designed.

What makes Studio ab. different?

My clients care about how a space makes them feel and how it reflects who they are. At Studio ab. I bring a refined eye and an intuitive understanding of people. The design is always personal, expressive, and purposeful. Every element is chosen with intention to create spaces that are rich in character and confident in presence.
